About ABISCF

The American Board of Information Security and Computer Forensics is empowered by the American Board for Certification in Homeland Security with the following Vision statement and Mission objectives:

ABISCF Vision Statement

The ABISCF facilitates a common understanding of standards, in the areas of information security and digital forensics, through training and credentialing programs established under the ABCHS to support Homeland Security Initiatives.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide information security and computer forensics practitioners in the private, NGO and government sectors with training and/or certification to facilitate their knowledge and growth to support the current prescribed response frameworks.

In pursuing the mission our goals are to:

  • Utilize subject matter experts and partners in assessing, articulating, and meeting their training needs regarding information security and computer forensics as they relate to homeland security issues.
  • Provide a certification framework to serve as the standard in both information security and computer forensics.
  • Provide written and practical tests to ensure uniformity in standards for performance across all levels.
  • Establish and provide training to agencies and organizations that do not have expertise or resources to do it themselves.
  • Establish and provide an open and engaging communications process between the organization, its members, potential members and certification candidates.

Certification

Certification Requirements

  • Be a member in good standing with the American Board for Certification in Homeland Security
  • Be a US Citizen
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a related field
  • Submit a portfolio documenting background and experience which should include the following:
    • Current Resume
    • Copy of degree(s) and/or transcripts (if applicable)
    • Copies of relevant certification and/or training certificates
    • Documentation of published articles and/or presentations
    • Teaching experience and/or speaking engagements
    • 3 letters of recommendation

Upon successful completion of prerequisites and examination, individuals will be awarded the certification.
